Today a 1996 Honda Accord came into the shop. For a simple front brake job. We just done a brake job on a 1994 Civic yesterday and it was a piece of cake. Getting back to the point the brake job on the 96 Honda Accord was something that caught us with our pants down. I had gathered all the tools that I thought that we needed and boy were we slapped in our face when we discovered that the hub had to be removed. We found a site where a guy had a pretty good write up on how he went through the process http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1281812. We followed Alot of the steps until we got to the puller that he used we used a regular two jaw puller and ground enough metal out of the feet for them fit the studs properly. Now that we have done the job its not a problem. but this is not your typical front disc brake job. Do your homework and make sure that you have all of the tools to do this with because without that puller you will be stuck in the mud or buying a new hub after you try to beat the old hub out of the spindle. PS. We did not attempt to beat the hub out. That is not professional nor smart.

We were at the transmission specialist’s shop late one night talking about random things that we have been through with cars in general. The subject crankwalk came up. We were comparing the input shafts on your typical American 5spd Transmissions and the input shafts on the japanese transmissions. It seems that Mitsubishi forgot to extend the input shaft to use a pilot bearing. We were discussing that if a pilot bearing is not used there could be movement between the crankshaft and the input shaft. That movement could be one of the causes of crankwalk. We know the 420a is designed the same way but the crankshaft main caps are designed totally different on the 420a engine. We are just wondering if a stub on the end of the input shaft of the transmission and a pilot bearing in the flywheel could have cured the crankwalk problem from the beginning. Go figure! It is just our thoughts.

There were some amazing automobiles out there. This is the main thing that caught my attention The Car was quite ugly and the owner said that he had no plans to paint the nova; he stated that he wanted to be a sleeper. I hope he will paint the car but he sure put in the wrench time to get this engine in right. He told me that the engine bolted up without any mods to the engine mounts. “The intercooler piping took a while” he said The engine is a LT1 out of a 1992 Chevrolet Corvette with a 95 Corvette ECU. It is tuned at 5lbs of boost currently. He stated that he got it tuned at CPR in West Columbia, SC It also have the vette rear end with the 3.73 gears and locker. The tranny that he has bolted up to it, is a 700r4 with a 2700 stall converter. Lastly the twin turbos are 52mm

my little brother is trying to break into the automotive game and he is really getting to see what its like . Recently he had a oil leak on his 96 Eclipse GS. While we were eliminating simple things by resealing the valve cover, cleaning, etc. We test drove the car and found it to have a cracked cylinder head. He is in the process of removing the cylinder head now. Let the learning begin.

Avoid those data usage charges if you are contract or prepaid by turning off 3g by going to settings -> wireless & network settings -> mobile networks -> data enabled un-check it and wifi and your calls will work without 3G.

The car dolly pictured was on some 13 inch steel rims that you see in the picture on the ground. The 13s have been good to us but it is time for a upgrade. I purchased a set of icw rims with good tires and decided to put them on the dolly. You may wonder why would someone do something dumb and is because the two of the rims are out of round(balancing does not help). I only paid $75 for the rims and tires , I have a pair of low pro tires that I may put on it to lower it back to the original level with the 13s. Here are some pics of the new look.
